Q: What is a Kissing Hand?
A: A Kissing Hand starts with the imprint of a child's hand or foot in soft clay. Each one is then carefully kiln-fired and hand-finished to become a beautiful keepsake that you will enjoy forever! Kissing Hands can be hung on a wall or displayed on an easel and come in a rainbow of colors to reflect your family's personal style.
Q: How can I get one?
A: Come to one of our retail shows in the northern Virginia area. Or contact us to host your own home/playgroup Kissing Hands party. Check our calendar of events and choose the date when you and your child(ren) can come, then contact us by e-mail or voice mail to make a reservation. No special preparation is necessary – we just need access to the hands and feet. Dress your child(ren) in something where feet and hands are easily accessible to push into the soft clay.
Q: How long does it take?
A: The actual appointment takes about 15 minutes. Making the impression is very quick. Completing a short order form with your color selection and inscription takes 5 – 10 minutes (or you may download the form ahead of time and fill it out and bring it with you.) Your Kissing Hands will be ready for you to enjoy in about 6 to 8 weeks.
Q: Why does it take 8 weeks?
A: Because each Kissing Hands is custom finished and kiln-fired, the process for curing and preparing the impressions so that they do not break during firing is a slow and delicate process. However, because of this special process you will have your Kissing Hands to enjoy forever!
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Prices range from $30 to $70 per Kissing Hand. Check the Descriptions and Prices for details. Payment in full is accepted when the order is placed. MY Kissing Hands accepts cash and checks but NOT credit cards at this time.
Q: Do you have Gift Certificates?
A: Yes! Please contact us to purchase one and we will mail it to you or the recipient! What a great way to give a personalized gift to a family that lasts a lifetime!
Q: What happens if my print is damaged?
A: Ceramics are very delicate natural substance and somewhat unpredictable. In the rare and unfortunate event that your Kissing Hand has an imperfection caused by clay or glaze anomalies, kiln misfires or breakage, you will be given the option of a full refund OR we will make a new Kissing Hand for you free of charge at our next event convenient for you.
Q: Can I host a group event?
A: Yes! Get your friends together and we will come to you! (NOTE: You must be in the northern Virginia metro area.) If you would like to host a fundraiser for a preschool, church or non-profit group, we will donate a percentage of the event proceeds from the event. Please contact us for details and availability.
